The Dares

Name, Age, and A random fact about yourself

-Ben Peterson, 19, uh in highschool i played on an improv team.  It was fun.
-Martin Lascano, 19, and i used to be a world of warcraft addict.  I still wish i could afford it.
-Matt Peterson, 19, and in 8th grade I played on the football team. I played left gaurd, left side of the bench, gaurding the water.
How did you get your band name?

BP: We were really young, and optimistic.
ML: We were young, commited.
(all laugh)

BP: I dont remember how old I was, but the story goes, that I was asking people if they wanted to start a band, cause I was all like, crazy and hyper, and I wanted to play music.  This kid was like, “No, you guys, no no way”
MP: You dont have a bandd”
BP: and he dared us to start a band.
BP: It was me and him at first (matt). We grew up in Vermont, so when we were 13 we moved to California, found martin in a trash can, picked him up, fed him, he was skin and bones
ML: Gave me a hair cut! That’s the story of my life.
What genre do you consider your band?

BP: Umm
ML: Rock.
BP: Rock I guess, that’s the general. we’ve been told from other people… we’re like “What would you describe us as” and they’ll say uh Punk Pop, not pop punk, but yeah i mean, i like that.
MP: I would say pop punk
Who are your major influences?

BP: Greenday, Blink, I like a lot of oldies like The Beach Boys and Beatles and stuff, but we have a lot, we like a lot of different stuff.
ML: I like the starting line, the early november, new found glory, stuff like that.
What topics do you usually write about?

BP: Science, math, uh geometry, we write about geography a lot
ML: Candy
BP: But really, we write about life. It’s not one thing, it’s not just about girls, not just about, i don’t know.
ML: Have you ever seen that comic book spawn? Sometimes we write about that.
BP: We wrote a whole album, a whole full length on spawn. You know like a graphic novel, it’s like a graphic album. But we had a whole cartoon we were gonna get animated and play while we were playing.
ML: But that idea fell through the floor boards
BP: But seriously, we write about all types of things.
What song means the most to you?

BP: I don’t know. there’s a few. surprisingly we don’t write about the same thing. They all mean something to us in a different way.
ML: They’re all special. They’re all equal
BP: They’re all our babies. They’re not all equal for me at least. but there’s a lot that i really like
BP: Did you just growl?
ML: No i just burped.
Where do you plan on being as a band by this time next year?

MP: Hopefully our album will be out.
BP: Hopefully playing, but not being the opening band, and having more people know our words. Whatever the next level is, as far as we can get.
What are some of your pet peeves?

BP: Um, our phones not working..
ML: Ben and Matt. Just kidding!
MP: This is a weird pet peeve of mine, but i didn’t know it was a pet peeve til like, a couple years ago. I just, i figured it out. I don’t like crusty elbows.
BP: I don’t like long toenails
ML: I don’t like, cafeteria prison lunch. I hate prison lunch.
BP: Or getting raped..
ML: Getting raped?! I hate getting raped. It annoys me so badly!
Matt, pick one of them.

MP: Uh, Ben.
What would you not do with Ben?

MP: What would i not do? Probably chop him up.
ML: I would not, bite his lips when we kiss…
MP: No, i do that…
ML: I wouldn’t bite his lips when we’re making out, that’s what i wouldn’t do.
MP: Yo, that’s my bro man… I dunno, i wouldn’t..i wouldn’t jump off a cliff with him.
If the music industry didn’t label bands in genres, how do you think it’d be different?

ML: I think everyone would just hold hands
BP: I think everyone would just describe bands with their mouths. like “That band has the boom boom daga daga song.”
Well that’s it. Thank you so much.

BP: That’s it, well awesome, thanks

My friend taped this on her phone, and of course, she moved it away from their faces, so it may not all be exact. Also, that is not all they said. There was a lot of extra stuff they said that either i didn’t catch, or wasn’t important.
